Vice President of Patent Transactions

NYC

Hilco Streambank, a leading intangible asset advisory firm, is looking for a Vice President of patent transactions. Qualified applicants will have 7 or more years of experience in patent brokerage with a demonstrated track record of closing transactions, along with the ability to build and manage their own team. Legal, scientific, or engineering background will be helpful but are not necessary. Applicants will be expected to work independently or with small teams of shared resources.

Hilco Streambank has been brokering the sale of patents for over 10 years. Our patent disposition engagements often originate from distressed companies although we find ourselves increasingly working on behalf of healthy sellers seeking to rationalize their portfolio. In addition to sell-side brokerage we are periodically engaged as a buy-side representative as well.

A successful candidate will have a strong network of patent intermediaries and also buyers and sellers. Additional experience investing in patents will be helpful, as investment is seen as a growth area.

The VP of patent transactions will be responsible for developing and executing a business plan that focuses on expanding our existing services to patent sellers and buyers and identifies other areas of opportunity. Operationally, the candidate will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing new opportunities and engagements
  • Identifying opportunities for investment
  • Developing marketing materials
  • Conference travel
  • Hiring as needed

Compensation commensurate with experience and significantly incentive based.
