WHOLESOME PHILOSOPHY WITH HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Earth Fare is a pioneer in the sale of natural and organic food to grocery customers in the Southeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic United States. Founded in 1975 as a natural food store, Earth Fare grew to 55 grocery stores and an e-commerce site at EarthFare.com. The Earth Fare brand has led the way in honest labeling and the elimination of artificial additives in food products. Earth Fare created a “Boot List” of hundreds of ingredients the brand “booted” from its offerings, including artificial preservatives, added hormones and artificial trans fats. 

In 2019, Earth Fare’s sales were approximately $450 million, up from approximately $395 million in 2018. Strong private label offerings have played a significant role in driving sales.  Earth Fare’s beloved private label brands including Earth Fare Organic, Handpicked discovered by Earth Fare and Earth Fare Everyday Value offer healthy and affordable pantry essentials accounting for 13% of aggregate sales.

The Earth Fare brand reaches many of its customers through the Healthy Rewards customer loyalty program, which has approximately 1 million active customers. Approximately 73% of all purchases are made by Healthy Rewards members. The brand is also well-known for its bakery and prepared foods, and recipes for those items are included as part of the offering.

In 2018, organic food sales in the US increased by 5.9% to reach a total of $47.9 billion. This growth in organic food sales outpaced the total food sales in the US by more than double.2
