Hilco Streambank is seeking offers to acquire a portfolio of certain travel brands and domain names owned by Thomas Cook Group Plc (in Liquidation) and certain subsidiaries (also in Liquidation) (“the Companies”) on behalf of Simon Appell, Alastair Beveridge, Daniel Imison and Ben Browne of AlixPartners UK LLP as Special Managers of the Company appointed to support the Official Receiver as liquidator of the Company.

Caledonian Airways

Caledonian Airways (“CA”) was an international airline with a rich legacy dating back to April 1961, when the company began with a single 104-seat Douglas DC-7C aircraft. Over the subsequent years, the Company saw rapid growth, with passenger numbers in 1970 growing to 800,000 – approximately 22.7% of all British non-scheduled passengers. Caledonian Airways attained market leadership in transatlantic charters and merged with pre-eminent independent airline and private scheduled carrier, British United Airways, to become British Caledonian. Subsequently, the popular Caledonian Airways brand saw a reincarnation when adopted by British Airways in 1988.

Going Places was a popular chain of travel agents established in the early 1990s, which previously operated within the “My Travel” group. Over its history, the brand saw substantial success on the UK high street, growing to approximately 750 retail outlets under management.

The Company operated under the Going Places corporate brand, established in 1993, which grew to become a significant presence on UK high streets. The brand has the potential to be utilised in high street locations, new online ecommerce ventures, and also licencing arrangements with third-party UK outlets.

The Company holds rights to two registered trade marks, being: (i) a figurative mark for the Going Places logo (application number UK00001583523); and (ii) the ‘Going Places’ word mark (registration number UK00002018044).

Domain Names

The Company has registered the goingplaces.co.uk and going-places.co.uk domain names.

Sales Process

Offers for the intellectual property assets are due Wednesday 19 February 2020 at 4pm GMT.

Key Terms & Conditions

The bidder acknowledges that Hilco acts as an agent for the Special Managers of the Company appointed to support the Official Receiver as liquidator of the Company, who offers for sale only what right, title and interest the Company possesses in the assets.
